valve lash adjust
MP solid camshaft has .028" & .032" valve lash for an iron block-iron heads.
In an iron block with aluminium heads, how much I must tighten the valve light? :waves: (there was a sticky post that explained it... but I didn't find it.) |

Here's the "rules of thumb" we use on our engines:
W2 iron heads, iron block=.002" looser that specs(for flat tappet cam only-better cam life) iron block, raised runner aluminum heads=.004" tighter than specs. aluminum block, raised runner aluminum heads=.008" tighter than specs. iron block, standard runner aluminum heads=.003-.004" tighter than specs(I'm estimating this one). |

Good advice
every motor is different and it might take some experimenting to find whats right for yours. If these are fresh heads, the valves will have to bed in,and as they do the lash will tighten itself some, but when they are done it will stay put.Had to do my Harley 3 times and then they havnt needed any tweaking since.
