Default I know all rice is bad but.....

Whats worse,
RICERS... hondas, toyotas, nissans with vinylgraphics, huge wings, and huge exhaust tips

OR

WANNABE RICERS... contours, probes, cavalers, sunfires and neons with vinylgraphics, huge wings, and huge exhaust tips.

Yea they both suck, But if somebody held a gun to your head and told you to pick one to drive to the mopar nationals and NO you can't choose the bullit to the head, What would you pick!

Yea, both choices suck. But this is just evolution and these kids are making due with what they can afford. Give'em credit, some of those cars will scoot too.

What if we were 19 again? Chances are we would be in the thick of the import scene also. Opps, I'm already there!
I have an import for a daily driver -- a WRX wagon.

Arrow My brother in law has a wrx

He traded in his 300M on it.says its faster,I havnt rode in it yet he lives in Chicago. The 300 wasnt slow either.Back when we were teens the older cars that were affordable were slugs.Nowadays there is a different choice out there, the stuff we got to see run new that was quick.

I'd tell the triggerman to find a bathroom and screw himself and find a Turbo Mopar! I can't stand all that bolt on crap. Give me a Lebaron GTS turbo, black w/ gold pinstriping, red leather, a, big exhaust (3" from the turbo back of coarse not just the tailpipe), and a host of engine goodies! Sneak up on them and squash them like the pests they are, with their grandpa's Chrysler!

Default popcorn racers

I work with one of those guys that believe that graphics, wings, pedal covers, and a irritating as hell muffler "more like a resonator" makes go so fast.vroooooomm vrooom. And is in the hole about $35,000. The other bought a older cop car a cheby crapice, paid cash. Put about another $2,000 for upgrades etc.. intake and trans re-build.. total cost is about $6,000. The rice guy pestered the cheb guy forever or so it seems. They race and the cheby won, rice guy goes out and put's in a autometer tach and want's to race again, he thought it would make his car faster i guess. Same result... Give me American Iron prefer the pentastar.. but better than a car made from our old beer cans we left over there from WWII. ricer

Nissan Skyline (Godzilla) Either an R-32 or R-34. Those cars are quick and can easily preform in the 8 second range and continue driving on the street. They are one of the very few Japanese cars that can actually walk the talk.

I'd go into battle with my Brother's 2004 Neon SRT-4.... Yeah, really

As crazy as it may sound, that little sucker is QUICK! He has beat cars I thought he was crazy to race. Front Wheel drive ain't my style, but.... I'll have to respect that SRT-4 for sure.

my two worthless cents....

Nisson Skyline is as close to Japanese muscle as it gets.HP measured in the mid-3 digits is common. It's big, square and intimidating. That said, I'd take a Neon srt. maybe a turbo or two.
As for big vinyl graphics, ever seen a Hemicuda billboard? Or the Superbirds wing? Or the ground effects on a Petty Aspen? What about the shaker hoods and fake scoops on 80% of the muscle
cars we like today? How about AAR side exhaust ? Talk about loud! These kids work with what they have. I wish my car could corner and run like a stock Civic. It's a wonderful thing for a kid to be proud of his/her car. 150 mph with the A/C blowing and the stereo blasting? Nah, give me a hemi I gotta adjust every other day just to keep it running. I love my old cars but they were new once too. These cars are the muscle cars of today.

Muscle? Ummmmmm, nope. It's like saying the new music groups around today sing Rock, "pop-rock" they call it....those two words DO NOT mix. Just like rice and Muscle they do not mix. Before Muscle it was vintage, then Muscle now Compact Imports before too long we'll be flying our own star wars type hover craft watch-ya-ma-call-it.

These are the cars that kids are buying new and souping up with aftermarket parts just like my father did with his 68 R/T. My grandmother hated it! She said it was ugly and too noisey. The main difference being the amount of grunt that the factory provides initially. I am amazed at the numbers that come from this type of vehicle. I personally don't care for them in the least, I DO respect the numbers. Front wheel drive is lame. And I don't understand the can in back either, sounds like a weed eater. To each his own. We need to just accept them as a new breed of an old species, CAR LOVERS!

Got to see an interesting event the other day, concerning a rice pickup.
Yesterday, I was scoping out the local scrapmetal recycling center, and someone dragged in an early 80s Nissan pickup, looked fairly solid, though obviously no cherry.
I swear, when the crane guy went to grab it with the claw to pick it up, it literally disintegrated!! I mean, the cab tore off the frame, the frame broke, the bed just went all over the place, finally he kind of got it wadded into a ball and tossed into the hopper.
Well, earlier today, my daughter Heather and I finally towed in the remnants of the decrepit 51 Plymouth I had bought for parts some 8 years earlier. I had chased down and dragged it off the back of a truck hauling it to the scrapyard back in 96, so this was no cherry that I had destroyed, believe me!
Thing is, while that old Plymouth was over 50 years old and had the floorboard rotted almost clear to the center driveshaft hump, it still held together better than that Japanese pickup that literally fell to pieces!
Really made me think twice about buying just any used import vehicle for my kids to use as a beater car to learn in...I'll probably turn them loose in my Imperial instead, lol!!

I had an ElCamino once that had NO frame rails past the rear diff.
It still held together enough to drive daily AND make it from N.Y state to N.C.While a friend had a Toy-ota 4x4 that was more rust bubbles than paint. It fell in half when he jacked it up to change a
flat! The only tojo ride worth teaching stick in is a late 80s civic, they are cheap and if the kid grinds gears, who cares! You know, that truck is STILL in the woods.

Those 4x4s are notorious for rust. I dont think I've seen more than 3 or 4 that weren't rusty beyond salvage. Weird thing is they still sell for 1200$ and up! they do run forever, but if they can't hold up to abuse why buy one? A useless 4wd set-up is pointless.

Mine is far from rice or a wannabe ricer, but I'll stick with my SRT-4.

Yeah, I've been kept pretty busy on the other forum as well as being very tired, but overall I'm OK. I've only been able to pop in and out at random to see what's going on. It will take awhile getting use to the changes around here. I'll be in from time to time, see you later NZ and keep on rockin'.

Default burnout video

Neat-o burnout. Those tires look expensive. All in all I give it 2 thumbs up.I wish my Signet could do that. It was kind of like the "Jackass" movie, you know its wrong, but it still makes you smile.
