Odd looking slant six???
Hi i recently aquired a 66 dodge d100 stepside pickup. i changed the spark plugs and noticed somthing a little odd to me. where the spark plugs go into the block there is a cone that caomes out of the block, i can see down the side of the motor on the inside!! the head is a little ways in there. i have never seen this before i own a 65 dart but the side is solid! i heard of a alumin slant six that the oil flow is generous to keep it cool but mine is cast iron. didnt know it anyone knows about this or is this nothing new?

you have a late motor in your dart
and an original in your pickup.Thats what they are supposed to look like.

The early slant 6's used spark plug tubes similar to a 426 hemi. somewhere in the '70's they redesigned the heads and eliminated the tubes.

the later head
has 5/8 taper seat plugs and is the unleaded type.
