I would think not, what would hold them in?The alignment hardware is bolted in the center on those-nowhere to bolt it in the earlier ones.

No they wont, for several reasons. The stock ones will not have anything to bolt the yoke to the block. The lifter bores are too short and the roller lifter will uncover the oil gallery hole which will drop your oil pressure to just about 0. There is a mod for this, but it's not worth it. Aftermarket roller lifters will need the mod to use them too, but they will wear out quickly too due to the short lifter bore. Besides, unless your building an engine to turn over 7500 you don't need a roller cam and there is no advantage to using a stock computer engine roller cam either.

I think it's Crans cams have retro fit rollers. It's a no big deal to use them. A drop in and go effort I believe. The bang for the buck isn't really there, do it if you want to.
A roller pays off in the Loooooooooong run if you get there.
Roller cam, $300+
Roller lifters $300+
Upgraded rockers $300+
Custom pushrods, $100 or so, but any engine could use them at any time. Things like milled heads or decks or large cams making use of a smaller base circle, extra tall valve and spring set up like in example W-2 long valve version.
All of the above would need a custom P-rod.
There not a big deal.
So, thats a thousand bucks so far.
Now Hyd cam vs. mech cam vs roller cam. ='s
Very cheap & easy vs. moderate installation and mech abilty to do vs. big price and little upfront gain over the previous 2.
I might do a roller one day.

I thought I saw something in the last Comp Cams catalog for retrofit roller hardware, too.

Default Roller cam

DWC43 and Rumblefish are both right again as usual. I tried putting the cam and lifters from an 88 Roller motor in my old 74 318 a few years ago..The only thing that didn't work was the lifter bores being too short (no Oil Pressure). So instead of removing the whole engine and taking it apart and then paying a machine shop/ I put the 340 resto cam in it.

So will stepped headers and a propper hydro or mech. cam too. The roller wont last long in a stock block and since you cant drive it on the street at 7 grand it wont do anything for you but loose low end torque and drivability.

Comp makes small rollers for the street, Crane had retro fit roller cams, all at a price that hurts the wallet. Making a roller work doesn't allways need the MoPar oil tube block off kit that needs to be peened. But it would help in a GOD forbid liffter jump out of the hole accident.
Cams are ground to perform in a RPM range. Weather there Hyd, Solid, Hyd roller, mech roller.
Comp lists there smallest (Mech) roller in the 3000 - 6500 rpm range. w/.550 lift @ 288 adv. duration. Some of the larger Comp rollers perform in the 4500 - 8000 rpm range. Those drag roller are seriously MEAN biz cams. All out and nothing short of all out!

For cheaper cams that can perform very well. Lookie below.
Holley purchased Lunati. There stepping up to the plate with a new program.

These guys are no joke eathier with there line.

And these guys can do some serious cams as well.

MoparMarcIdaho;

Here, there, over the boarder, under the fence, between the mattress hiding, on the roof looking far away.
Just not under the car.
I have a problem that I must sign on and spit out 2 cents everday. However, last week I knocked in 88 hours in O.T. after vacation for 2weeks and change. So if ya missed me, you didn't look under the right rock.
P.S. I think I also post in my sleep, whenever that occours.
