Try Weiand or go to PAW and buy from them if you don't want to deal with the factory. I would stay away from b&m stuff since it's a rebuilt gmc charge with there own gear drive added.

Default Depends...

What sort of Supercharger do you want? Do you want the roots style (the big aluminum monster that sits on top of the engine), or a centrifugal (sort of like a turbo that is driven by the accessory drive belt), or do you want a turbo (driven from exhaust pressure)?

The type of supercharger that you should use depends on what you want to do with it. Let us know what you're goal is, and we can help you find the right one!! They all have some good points and some bad points to them.

If you know you want a centrifugal type, here's a couple of links that might help you out.

Give us more information about what you want to do and we'll help steer you in the right direction.

400,
Could you explain what needs to be done to the fuel system and carb for the ATI type charger? I think its solid floats and I have seen some kind of tube running to each float bowl? I cannot find anything on any site that explains superchargers and carburetors. Thanks

It takes more than that for a blow through carb design. The blow through carbs run like $1000 ea. The aire bleeds are moved so the mettering system will work properly, along with the bowl vent tubes, solid floats and many internal mods that you just can't make to a stock carb.

Ever see a GMC blower with the 4-barrel carb flange cast right into the case like the B&M?

The Holley/Weiand supercharger is a B&M, Holley bought the B&M blower line.

Bullshit, here is how you modify a holley for blowthru super/turbo chargeing.

http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html

It doesn't take thousands of dollars and can be done with basic hand tools in your own garage.

No, it's not bull crap as I stated and I never said it took thousands, I said you can buy one for about a $1000 and those mods are simple race mods that we have been doing for years to make those crappy holleys half usefull. This not even close to a blow through carb. I guess I'll have to go hunt up a pic for you to see what one looks like.

DWC, I respect you on here, but I did feel you insuiated that to blowthrough you had to have that 1000$carb....

Worked on 4 cars, One being mine, that work pretty good without major surgery....The key is to NOT OVER CARB....a 1000hp can be made on a 650 no problem....Goin to the dyno this morning with a blowthrough camaro...355,built bottom end, dart pro-ones, BIG ASS liquid to air under dash, Holset ht60(basically a 72 mm cheater or drag radial turbo(108mm exducer and very large turbine) still can build 20psi on the line...CSU bonnet...basic 650 with regular mods...off of his 440whp 1.3liter turbo rotary.

The intercooler is new and doing some fine tuning.

680whp with loose coverter no intercooler 20lbs boost 150mph 1/4 traps
lookin to break 800whp on liquid to air at slightly over 20

Took it to the track with the boost down (15-16psi)wednesday and ran the same mph as 20-21 with no intercooler..

Also metering is out the door once boost hits, there is no longer a vacuum being created through the carb so fuel is forced through the jets and into the venturis through the pressurazation of the float bowls....

definetly lots of little trick to help part throttle driving...which I am to tired to type(or is it just lazy)

72 barracuda...used to be blowthrough 408 twin turbo....
acell dfi now...yes fuel injection is better than any carb...
Intercooler on the way to completion along with stepped up 61mm turbos.
Best time with injection and 57mm's...9psi..6.64 1/th at 106....3.23 gears..3400lb car on 9" slicks...new shortblock to handle the power and keep pistons together sitting on stand now( mopar resto-block,basically r-3 casting with motor mounts, callies steel crank, manley pro series rods, custom ross Turbo pistons...thick tops

Everyone have fun and once you go boost, you won't go back!

Any reason why, say a 2inch spacer couldnt be drilled out to accept say 2
1 1/2 inch holes for the supercharger hose to fit under the carb? The induction would be under the carb and no modifications need done.

where are I going wrong?

Question

Once you build boost it would blow the fuel right out of the top of the carb-WTF?

WTF? Spare me!
If the boost was pointed down into the engine I think it may work. Especially if a custom piece was made just for that. Or, it was tapped into the manifold?

The carb has to be mounted on the intake side of the blower and then the mixture gets boosted into the intake.Otherwise you pressurize the carb.

If I'm not mistaken.. the Mr Norm Demon 340 with the belt supercharger only had apoxy coated floats as the mod to the stock Thermoquad...the boost would collapse the floats..
