Default 1970 383 - PCV valve

Which side of the engine is the PCV valve meant to be on ? I've been following a book by Don Taylor for my recent rebuild and it tells me it should be on the passenger side, with the breather on the drivers side. However I've seen other 383's which have the opposite.

Does it really matter which side they are on ?

Thanks in advance

all of the V8 mopar engines i ever saw had the pcv valve in the left (drivers side) valve cover and the breather in the passenger side valve cover. that doesnt mean there werent some that were the other way, but i havent seen one. it doesnt matter, though, as long as the breather and the pcv valve are on opposite sides of the engine. this way, fresh air is pulled through the engine, rather than just across the valves on one side.

Ma put the PVC and the filler right in the middle of her OEM covers. M/T has 2 blanks, one labeled oil and one labeled PCV. Both should be toward the front to prevent oil from climbing out on hard acceleration if possible. PCV on the driver side is the norm.

Alot really depends on what year it is.

My 440 has the PCV on the passenger side and the breather on the drivers side. It has the factory air cleaner that has the breather hose coming off of the drivers side. This engine was also used in a 1970 vehicle.

My 1970 Dodge Challenger (383) also had the breather on the drivers side and the PCV on the passenger side.

My oval RamCharger air cleaner (for the 1969 coronet) also has the breather hose on the drivers side.
