Default Solid Mount V8

How bad IS solid mounting a V8? Ive heard that its not good for your car.
The only experience I have with this was a 502ci Caddy mill in a 76 Skylark.
That car was a real dog! I suppose the frame would need strengthening. This seems like the easiest way to swap a V8 into anything.I hadnt considered this until a friend offered me a supercharged V6 from a Thunderbird.(I of course ended the friendship immediately)The motor I want to swap is a 67 440. Thankfully this site is here for people to read before they do stupid things!

its not that bad, really. it will rattle your fillings out.
aree you thinking of solid motor mounts, or a motor plate?
we need a little more info to go from to help you make a decision.

If you're talking the bolt in solid mounts, just use one on the drivers side, and a good polyurathane one on the passenger side. It won't rattle, and you will get quicker torque transfer to the rearend.

I mean welding a plate on either side to the frame and bolting the 440 to it.
Right to the front of the mill. The Skylark was a scary ride with welded posi and 2 4bbls.Like I said though, that car was a POS,I want this one to ride fairly well.A conversion kit is only 200$ or so.Maybe that would be best.
Perhaps the swap made the Skylark a deathtrap?I love my Val. and dont want to damage it too bad.

solid mounts can break the transmition. How about swapping the buick for an A body, wont need a conversion kit, just headers

The MP Performance book says don't run all three solid, use at least 1 soft mount. My circle burner is solid on both sides of the motor soft at the tranny. Only drawback is the whole car moves when idling. (very lumpy cam)

Right to the front of the mill.
Don't do it like this. Do it the right way and buy an engine plate or elephant ears and use a poly tranny mount. We use an aluminum engine plate with poly tranny mount in our Duster with a 440. Make sure to add sub frame connectors too.

Default Your right

Looks like Schumacher is getting some money. I really want this to be a nice car. I dont want some junkyard dog, cobbled together with 3 different cars,a TIG welder, and too many beers. My wife and kids will be in it so it must be safe.
