Question rear axle ID

Hello, I'm new to this site and the Mopar world in general.

I'm currently looking at a 69 Satellite for a project car. As I looked under the car thinking I was going to see an 8 3/4 there, but wan't. The rear has a bolt on gear cover, what could it be? By the way, it's not a Dana 60 either. Did Chrysler make such a unit in 69 or has it been put there from a later car? All in all the car seems to be all original and has been sitting for some time.

Thanks for any help,
Keith

I'm pretty sure that it's an 8ΒΌ tha you have. I know that's what's in my '69 Coronet 500 convertible. In any case, why don't you take a look at the Mopar Rear Axle Spotter's Guide in the tech archives.

Noticed your in Nashville. I aint far from you. Did you go to our car show last month? If so, you probably saw my RoadRunner that took 1st place in it's class. IT was a good show. Are you a Music City Mopoar Club Memeber and if not, do you want to become one? Let me know, always enjoy meeting more mopar fans.

Just pay the $24 dollar dues and come to the meetings when you can. You get a news letter every month and some other stuff. Plus a listing of all memebers and free want adds. Our show was at Pinkerton Park this year. 2 days with 150 Mopars with everything from wing cars to Hemi's. Hope that it will be our new home. I'm in Shelbyville, but I work near you. Check out our site at www.musiccitymoparclub.com not sure if it's been updated since our show, but there is usually some good pics on there.
