Default Can I use that massive 360 2bbl carb on my 318?

I just need a working carb while I build up my 360. I have one of those 2bbl monsters from the 360, and I need a non-feedback carb since the little BBD I have is giving me nothing but problems. Will it bolt up? It has an electric choke so the intake choke stat is a non-issue. I have a decent exhaust system hooked up, so it might actually benefit from the bigger flow. I just want to know... will it work?
Thanks,

The answer is, it depends on which manifold you have. As long as the bores on the intake manifold are big enough, and it physically bolts to the manifold, it will work.

Biggrin

If you have the smaller BBD and the big 360 carb as you call it is the holey design it will not fit. THey all flow pretty much the same too.

OK, thanks guys. I'll have to track down another working BBD for the time being then.

You say massive, it isn't really all that much bigger, just looks bigger. It can be done, but you have to change the intake manifold as well. You also need the 360-2 air cleaner. The bolt pattern is so close to the BBD that there is no adapter. I did it on a 74 Dart and had to rejet it 2 sizes smaller and it ran very well. I also put on a 340 dual exhaust system, exhaust manifolds on back, and recurved the distributor mechanical advance.
For those who say the 360-2 intake ports don't match up to the 318 ports, that is not really a problem. I got 21 mpg with mine in a 74 dart, auto trans, and 2.76 rear end.
