Default Color coding ECU's

I know the orange is good to 6K and the MP chrome is good for 8K (as written) but what about the blue and the black ones? And how about the elusive MP gold one? What makes the chrome different from the orange or blue (stock?) How about the Wells or other replacement units?

Wells, blue and black are all stock. THe orange may say it's good to 6000 but it starts pulling timming or dwell out above 4000 and are failure prone. The Chrome box works well. I used one on a dirt car for a couple years, but did not notice any improvement over the stock box. The gold box is a race only piece and should be good to 10,000, but I have never used one. For the price, it's better to go with an msd box.
