whats up mopar gang?just a quick ? I was check out some cam specs for sm blocks on the Hughes site when I noticed a footnote that said max lift for the stock heads was .450" unless you cut the valve guides down. is this true? if not what is the safest lift I can use? triggerbear

Are they talking big block? I ran a 284/.484 cam on a stock 340 head and it didnt interfere.. Oh, they are talking big block. Dunno, my heads were set up for my cam.

The last 340 I helped dial in had a 509 purple shaft and we had to pull it apart and have the tops of the guides machined down due to the retainers hitting them.It sounded like rhoads lifters but they were regular mopar stuff.Caught it in time and didnt hurt anything else.So I would think its a good tip.

Biggrin

We've run at least 484's in ours with no mods to the guides.
