Default Cam break-in...old springs

Installed new cam in 360 Dart. Someone suggested cam break-in with old spring...then install new springs. Does this sound like the way to go? Or install new springs for break-in?

hello, If this is a street cam, then use correct springs. If it's a race cam, then best to use a lower tension spring for break in. then change to the recommended springs. there is nothing wrong with using low tension springs for cam break in, regardless of cam style. just more work changing springs.
just food for thought.

Before you start it up go to GM and get a pint of their engine break in lube.
Its around $6.00 and could save your cam. Damm, I cant remember what it has alot of that oil now day's does not.

I've read that much more than 300# spring pressure is a no-no. I remove the inner spring, if dual. Or older singles for the breakin. No wiped lobes yet.
