Changing total advance
I have a new MP distributor on a 440. I need to limit the total advance in the distributor and was told that Mallory p/n 29014 would be a good kit.I would like some feed back before I lay down some green back. Thanks Ron

Don't know about that kit, but an easy way to do it, is to weld up the slots and recut them to give you the advance you need.

DWC is right. I did it on mine and it worked great. After I was done I had 20 degrees of advance with 14 degrees intial for total of 34 degrees. One hint is when you weld it up find a thick copper strip and clamp it under the bottom side so the weld don't drip through. The weld won't stick to it. Just saves some time grinding. A die grinder with a small bit will be needed to dress the slots. Took me about 20 minutes to weld and grind the slots smooth. There was an article in Mopar Muscle sometime back in early 2003 that showed how to do it.

I,ve used the mallory advance kit on the new m.p. distributors and it works fine and takes alot of guess work out . Just follow the intructions. And for those who aren,t aware the newer M.P. distributors are made by mallory and have an adjustable mechanical advance plate. NO WELDING / GRINDING REQUIRED
