Default Leaky trans.

Hi guys need some help. Got a leak on a 727 seems to be coming from around the shifter linkage where it enters the trans . Is there an o- ring there ? Also is it changable without removing the trans from the car?
thanks

A couple of O rings that can be changed without removing the trans fron the car. The Mopar service recommends using a small screw driver to remove the old ring and replacing the new one by inserting it with a socket. This procedure has never worked for me because of limited space. Suggest you pick up a kit from the dealers with all of the parts needed, drop the valve body and replace the parts on a work bench then re install the valve body, a new filter and pan seal should stop the leakls.

The seal that seals the shift shaft to the case is a standard metal core lip seal. As stated, it is easier to remove the valve body to replace the seal due to limited access; drive the old seal out from below and pull the new one in with large washers and a bolt/nut.

There is a secondary seal in the shift shaft itself that seals the throttle shaft, it is under the washer held in place by an "E" clip.
