MP cam question
I'm building a 360 Magnum engine for my 73 Swinger, I have a block, crank and rods, going to have the block punched .030 and decked, and follow the 300/360 cratre specs but use 9:1 Hyp pistons and the Magnum R/T heads, a Holley electric fuel pump and carb. I'm considering the R/T cam. The '02 MP catalog states that this cam is for MPI engines and noted that will not fit with mechanical fuel pump. Can anyone tell me if there would be a problem using this cam or stick with the 300/360 cam, and what about vacuum for power brakes? Thanks

Hummmm, I thoght the 300/360 and 380/360 used hyperu pistons rated @ 9.0-1.
The cam in question is designed for the Magnum engines. This means the cam is a short snout cam. This means no room under the timing cover for a fuel pump ecentric. An electric fuel pump only that you have covered. It should very well produce good vaccum. It's a very small cam. I believe this to be a bolt in deal about the size of a no brainer. Being made for a fuel injected engine is the only curve I can see being thrown here. I wouldn't think it to be a problem. |

Thanks Rumblefish....Na, don't want injection, I want to use a Holley St. Avenger carb. I thought the 380/360 had more comp., not sure. But I want to use the 9:1 pistons and deck my block slightly with a .04 thick head gasket, (shooting for 9.3:1) with the 60cc chamber on the R/T head.
