Default A Body Rear End In E Body

Will a A body rear end work in my Cuda? I need a little more tire room and don't want to narrow the origanal one.

PS. I'm new to my area and don't know anyone with a A body to get mesurements from.

it will fit but the spring perches will have to be relocated, make sure you set the correct pitch angle in when you reweld the perches. it's really easy also depending on the bolt pattern you might want to change axles if they have the small pattern. the large brake backing plate can be used for the bigger brakes

'70 E body never came with small bolt patterns so there is nothing to change on the axles.

My A-body 8 3/4 is 58.25" from drum to drum where the wheel bolts on, and 52.25" from backing plate mount flanges. Hope this helps.

DWC, were you IMing a girl again?

Trivia question: If '70 E-bodies never came with the small bolt pattern, and A-bodies never came with the big bolt pattern, what do you do? Get aftermarket axleshafts, that's what!

Yukon axles for mine were $290 a pair, and I'm sure others are similarly priced.

Even moving the perches won't allow the use of an A body rear in an E body, there isn't enough room for the U-bolts with the perches moved that far outboard.

John, I should of mentioned this, I've already moved my springs inboard 3".
I was concerned one rear end may be offset.
