Default Oils to Use?

Hey everybody, I got some OIL questions and any opinions are appreciated -

I am running a Hughes Fast Rate Cam - hydrolic flat tappet (simular to the crane xtreme cams) - boy is the valve train noisy when its all warmed up -

I am running mobil -1, Hughes recomends a mineral based oil with a high zinc content - any one try Mobil 1 Delvac ?

Any comments

I'm not a user of synthetics, but I know a lot of valve train noise isnt a good thing. 2 things come to mind, 1: What is your valve stem clearance, is everything in spec?
2: What weight oil are you running?
Honestly though, I'd be more suspicious of too much clearance in the valve train than I would be oil viscosity or makeup.

On a new engine or one with new parts, like a cam shaft, I myself would run the dino oil for a bit. But, click and read here; https://www.amsoil.com/

Mobil ! Delvac is in the top 3 oils available.
I have used it for 25 years ans have no oil related issues. A 92 Dak with 292,000 miles is one of them.
I'd say use a dino oil to break it in first.
If you have noise, find the cause.

UM, uH, here's a dumb one, is it a small block? A long time ago, i put the rocker shafts in backwards, yes i did, go ahead laugh, i was like thirteen, it made some noise, my daddy had to tell me how dumb I was, or, do some cams require longer pushrods? I agree with rumblefish on the oil, cept for I swwitched from amsoil to royal purple after seeing my buddys 455 after a long hard life (oh yeah, 455's are BAD ASS) even for a gm
