Default A.T.I transmissions

Hey all, have any of you used A.T.I transmissions?Thier prices seem ok and I have a friend that uses them,he says they are great, just looking for more info before I purchase trans & convertor from someone.
I am looking at a smallblock 727 or 904 and a 2200-2400 stall convertor for my 5.9 magnum.

There o.k. , but I'd check with TCI first. www.tciauto.com You wont find a better tranny here and they will custom make what ever you need.

You couldnt pay me to put that TCI junk in my car. I'd talk to a real Tranny company. Dynamic, Turbo Action, ATI, CRT or ART are all great choices.

I wouldnt go with Cope, the 904 I ordered from them didnt go into first gear. I took it to a local shop and it turns out that the accumulator piston in the valve body was nowhere to be found, Also they mentioned something about a scew being stuck there in one of the springs. I know everybody else on here says Cope does great work... and maybe for many he does but I personally had a bad tranny.

Everybody in the business (including John Cope) makes a boo-boo now and then, the local shop probably wasn't familiar with performance transmissions which often don't use the accumulator piston.

Yeah I am aware of that, everybody including myself make mistakes of course. Just putting my two cents in. I dont know much about the accumulator pistons or what thier specific role is but all I know is my first gear works now after one was put in so...

Thanks for the replies,I called and talked to them{ATI}.They only recommend a full manual reverse valve body 904 with a 2800-3000 stall and 3.55-3.73 rear gears. They say that the 904 is very reliable as a manual shift but is prone to failure when used as an "auto"shift.I am a little worried that 2800-3000 stall is a little much for a 3700# street car,but they recommend it.Convertor and trans are right at 1300.00 bucks.I am still deciding what to do.
