Cry How do you see the timing marks on a 440

I recently got a 1968 charger 440 automatic and went to time it before starting to drive it and I can't see the fixed part of the timing plate! Is there a trick to having this plate extend out from under-neith the water pump port.

Put another timing mark on the visible side of the timing cover and put a timing tape on the balancer. Make sure you find true TDC with a piston stop or some other means as the old ones may have moved. Your inlet is on the passenger side I assume.
