Default Help with part numbers and more....

Hello this is my first post so be gentle with me.LOL
I will first tell you what I have then I will ask my questions.
I own a 1969 Plymouth Satellite vin# RH23F9G that I am trying to get running. I bought it as an unfinished project about 95% done. The person I bought it from was going to clone it to a roadrunner but I am keeping it a Satellite, not to many orange satellites around though.
It has an 8 3/4 posi with 3.55 gears also has the original 904 tranny but has been built, kevlar bands 2500 stall. Now for the good part sorta the engine is an "X" block with ported W2 heads (older race) and a Holley Strip dominator intake which is also ported and a 800cfm Thermoquad.
The engine was fully assembled and I had to install it in the car along with the transmission. Long story on how that went lots of mistakes made. I finally got the engine running but ran into alot more problems leaking carb no oil pressure, etc. I pulled the engine and decided to do some investigating and found numerous oil gally plugs missing so I pulled the main and rod caps and found some damage so now I am waiting on parts. Everything looks fixable just lost time. Now that I have it apart I have a few questions:
1)The engine has a 318 casting number (X block) I keep reading that it is a 340 so is it a 318 bore or a 340 bore?? right now the bore is about 4.04.
2)Pistons are domed with deep reliefs but I cannot find a part number only number I found is at the inside bottom says 463-99 and TRW not together though any idea what they are??
3)The rods are steel and are sorta polished on the thin sides and they have a part number P-4120558 so what is it?? 318,340,360??
4)I was told it has a 360 crank and it has alot of work done on it knife edged filled etc. how do I find out for sure??
5)How do I find out the deck height??

Can't think of anymore questions right now but thanks in advance any info well be greatly appreciated.

I did research alot of archives just so you guys know.
Great info there.
I do have pics of the car engine etc. if someone wants to see or is just curious I will be more than happy to show them.
hope I am doing this posting thing correctly.

Thanks
Nick from Texas

Hey Nick;

Welcome.

First off, never post that much vin. Edit it. It's not needed.

The "X" block comes from MoPar as a ruff bore block right around that 318 bore. It must have an "X" cast into the block to be a "X" race block. It was designed to be bore out to whatever whas needed in bore size. Different bore and stroke combos can be made to get 340 cubes. 4.04 isa stock 340 bore.
A note about X blocks. They came in several veriety's. You could get one with 340 or 360 sized crank journals.

The pistons sound like TRW. Go to there web site and look up the part number. Unless someone here knows numbers, you might be out.

I can't find that rod number in the stock rod listings.

To findout is it's a 360 crank, there may be some numbers on it. If they were machined away, you must measure the pistons travel.

Deck height is best measured by a machinest at his shop. Which when you drop it off for work, it'll be easy for him to do.

Your doing eveything just fine.

If you want to post a picture, go right ahead. I'm sure theres a few people besides myself that woud like to see it.

If it has a 360 crank you can tell from the oil pan where the seals go. It should also have an offset weight on the dampner if it's external balanced. Most likely it is internal balanced though if it's an X block race engine. Look for large plugs of mallory metal in the crank for internal balance.

Hey don't be jealous it just cost money. At least yours can be driven.

It looks better when the engine was installed and my TTI exhaust was hooked up.

Thanks mojojojo426

I see you are from roundrock have a cousin lives up there.

I just hope I can get this engine together ok and be done with it.

Hoping it is a screamer. Once I figure out all the particulars or close to it I well select a cam.
