blower/supercharger 360
Hey guys I need to know somthin here
some people say it might work but more people say its a great combination so heres what I got I have a new 360 mopar in my 4x4 r/c and I want to ad a blower to it I have not yet decided to use eather a BDS-671,Weiand-671, or the LittleField-671 but I want 8 PSI of boost The motor uses a stock crankshaft 3.580 and and the bore is 4.00 it also uses stock rods, and pistons But I have installed a Performance (street) cam with roller lifters Cam specs: Intake lift 0.444 Exhaust lift 0.468 seat to seat My compresion ratio is a healthy 8.70 and I am using stock heads Fully ported with larger valves Intake 1.940 Exhaust 1,730 and the car is a edelbrock (1406) 600 CFM elec. choke I used Desk top dyno 2000 the newer version and used a Roots-BDS 671 (street blower) flow 390.0CFM Boost limit 8.0PSI Eff:55.0% belt gear ratio 1.00 THe results that showed up. I should say wer PERFECT! smooth non jagged HP & TQ ranges The TQ reached 500FT-LBS @ 3,300RPMs And delined @ 5,500 Rpms the max TQ was 511Ft-LBS @ 4,500RPMs and it remaned rather flat from start to finish The HP was also Perfect with the max HP right when the Tq. declines It reaches 500HP. @ 5,300 RPMs and declines @ 6,200RPMs and reaches its max HP. 508 @ 6,000 RPMs I personaly think this Is THE PERFECT COMBINATION but any other advice or what Blower ya think I should use yould be Helpfull and Apreciated cause I dont know for sure if this is a good Idea but if you think its great go on ahead and say so. I also hope this healps anyone elses problems and If anyone needs a test run on a certain engine just say so Il be glad to help ya out cause this Desk top dyno is A great program far getin a vary acurate rating on engine power It works with Nitruos blowers, strokers,Mopars,Chevys,Fords, and most imports, just let me know! -Have a nice day -Kevin |

Either the BDS or Weiand will do just fine. Your cr is o.k. You'll need a new cam made specifically for a blower and you should rebuild with forged pistons. You'll need a Thermoquad cause 600 cfm is no where closs to what a blower engine will need. The stock small block Thermoquad is 800 cfm and that's on a stock non blower engine. Better heads than what you have would also be a nice upgrade for more power with some 2.02 1.60 valves.

Call BDS before you do anything!
BDS can help you. www.blowerdriveservice.com
8 psi of boost on cast pistons will kill them. Max should be 5 to 6 psi. Desk top dyno 2000 is fun to play with but remember it's a toy for your computer. At $39.95 not to many top engine builders depend on it. I would not trust a 360 with stock crank, rods, and pistons to hold up to 511 ft-lbs of TQ and 508 HP. Just call BDS! Tell them what you have and they can set you up. |

my input
I have a 671 dyres blower on my 340 cuda. If you continue with this you definitally need to go to a blower cam and piston. I also recomend upgrading conecting rods. Due to the fact that I already snapped one but was a low rpm, thank god. Could have been a major delema.
Hope this is of help. |
