440 performance mods, will they work?
I gave up on the whole strokin' idea because there is really no reason for me to have that kind of power in a car, and besides all that added stress may tear my cars body up. So this is what i have decided I'm going with Bore it .30 over and go with Speed pro forged pistons with moly rings at about a 10:1 Compression ratio. Then for a cam im going to go with a mopar purple cam with .508 of lift,as for heads I have a pair of 906's that I'm going to get ported and polished, for an intake i was going to get a single plane mopar. Finally for the carb I was going to use a holley 850 double pumper. As far as exhaust goes hooker headers out super 40 flowmasters. Does this sould like a better combo. This is going into My 74 barracuda with a 727 tranny and 8 3/4 rearend.

Sounds better. Your car has a 5/16 fuel line, it will need replacing with 3/8.
Hold off on the cam til you get close then call Racer Brown, they developed the purple cam and Jim @ RB has forgotten more than most know. A dual plain intake like the Air Gap would be better. Single plain is for hi RPM. Air gap is for 1500-6500. You will need a good converter. Dynamic is the way to go. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. Then look into that 8 3/4. No sence in building a stout engine like that and having a 3.23 peg leg! |

That is like the famed default 500 HP build. Follow 70barracudas advice. You can do more with less his way. (Although there is no air-gap for a big block due to the manifold design allready being one. He means the Edel. RPM for you.) |

Give this a try

They can make that combo work with an M1 intake or the new 440 Victor. They have a cam thats works with Stage II ported 906 or 452 heads making over 550 HP on pump gas. Frank Lupo at Dynamic converters makes about the best converter. If it's a little to much try a Turbo Action "10 3500 stall. Hooker super comps with a min. of 3+ inch exhaust. Flowmasters cost alot but are a good muffler. One of the most important things to remember is an MSD ignition. |
