Default Torque Converter and Driveshaft ?'s

I am building up a friends 1973 Dodge Charger SE that formerly had a 318/904 combination.

It currently has a mildly built 360 (complete rebuild .030" over 1973 block and J heads, M1 Dual plane alum. intake, Edel. 625CFM rejetted carb, and a 340 cam) and he wants to go with a 727.

I have built a 727 for my '72 Truck resto using the TCI streetfighter kit (includes shift kit, etc.)... I have no problem going through another one.

I know that the 360 is an externally balanced engine and requires a 360 balanced converter. My questions:

1.Are the 904 and 727 360 converters interchangable?
If they are, I'll just use the current converter in the car now if it passes the exam. It's new, but the clutch packs in the original 120,000 mile 904 are wasted.
If I have to go with a new converter, I'm going to use the 2300 stall from another 727 that had a 318 in front of it and buy a B&M 360 balanced converter.

2.Was there a 1971-1973 Dodge Charger with a small block 727? I need a driveshaft.

3. If not, how much shorter should I have the 904 shaft cut for the longer 727 (or how much longer is the 727 from the 904?)

I have a 904 and 727 out in the garage, but I'd have to dig to measure them...(which I may just end up doing unless someone knows about a factory driveshaft that will work with the 360/727/'73 Charger body.)

Thanks in advance for any information!

Dave

1) No. Different where they go into the pump etc.

2-3) Yes there were B body cars with SB 727's in those years.
The yolk is different on the 904 shaft. So the 904 shaft would have to be cut, and a yolk used from a 727.

Easiest way to deal with the drive shaft dilema, is get a cheap used shaft from a C body at the bone yard.

A local driveline shop should be able to show you how to measure what you need, so they can cut it down to the size you want. Shouldn't cost much to do, as there are no parts involved. The old weldyolk etc, is reused.

1.Converters will NOT interchange.

2. I believe the 904 is 3.54 inches shorter....but you might want to double check that.

3....Same money and rebuild 904....
