Default Dying for a elect. choke housing!

Hey guys. I have a 9800S Carter Thermoquad carb freshly rebuilt and I desperatley need to transplant on my Ramcharger to try to get a few better MPGs out of it. The problem is the thermostatic choke is broken (plastic part) and I CANNOT find a replacement!
The 9800S is an aftermarket replacement Superquad that is totally without emission addons. (goodie for me) The downside to this is that this model does not appear in any vendor parts books since it isn't an OEM carb.
I have heard that Ford used Thermoquads in the early 70s with a electric choke, but I have no way of crossing them either.

Anyone have any ideas?

(if anyone posts "put a manual cable choke on it" I will find them and kill them.)

Try DemonSizzler. If he doesn't have it, I'm sure that he can point you in the right direction.

Wink

I believe that part number is for the electric assisted well choke not the 9800 series electric choke. I may be wrong though

Default Couldn't find it in a search.......

Of course this TQ has an odd ball electric choke thermostat. Nothing similar that is easy to find. I have even tried to fine a complete carb JUST FOR the choke! No luck. I have found a couple TQ at swap meets and BOTH had a busted choke.

Default I live on Ebay

That is what started this mess in the first place.
Scored this carb on Ebay for $40 a few years ago, but the bozo didn't pack it worth a crap for shipping and it arrived with a busted choke.

I'll ask the stupid question... Did you try either of the two sources that I mentioned above?

The hunt for the correct thermostatic choke housing has been going on for over a year. I tried Ebay, NAPA, swap meets, browsed Carb Unlimited online, as well as several other carb parts places. I even contacted David Chavez (DemonSizzler) about this. He didn't have a source either.

I would like to find the original Carter part number for it. I think that would easier to cross. It seems a TQ with a thermostatic choke is something pretty rare.

As carbs unlimited only has a very small portion of their inventory online, I would call them and ask. That's just me...
