Default I bought a painless harness and have ??

I finally broke down and bought the 18 circuit universal truck harness ive been lookin at from summit.
My question is as follows. Is there any while im rewiring the truck to do away with the ballast and control module ( orange box ) in the mopars ignition system? Does mopar have anything simalar to the HEI system like GM? Finally, any tips or how to's will be greatly appreciated.

The stock ingnition is the best ever made as far as stock goes. Only other option is to go to an MSD box. There's no such thing as an hei set up for a Dodge, and why would you want that junk in your Mopar anyway. A gm junker hei wont provide enough power over 4000 rpm.

I was just curious about the hei and wanted some facts and opinions. If the ballast and ecu are the best that is what I will stick with.

Only other option than an msd box is an upgrade to the Mopar Performance chrome box. It lasts longer than the orange box.

BS!

I run an hei module on all of my vehicles, and I love it, real easy to do.
Watch out for the Mopar purists, they are scared of it and will talk you out of it.
Just make sure it is grounded and enjoy it for years. I get mine out of the junkyard and also get the screws that hold the module into the dist, as the are really small, and the plug off of the one end also, as it makes it a little easier, dont worry, if the need arises to put it back to original, it justs plugs in and there is no modifying the stock system

You can get them from your Mopar Performance dealer or from Summit Racing.

i agree, it is the best, wish we could get the brains as reliable as a HEI though, just carry a spare
as far as the voltage, dwc, have you ever been shocked by a HEI? chrysler voltage is the lowest of the big three (and thats not a bad thing)

Default HEI type ignition

Davis Unified Ignition, DUI, does make an all in one distributor like the HEI that works on some Mopars. It has issues due to space on some engines. I don't remember which ones. There are ads for them in all the car mags including Mopar Muscle and Mopar Action. I still would stick with the Mopar Electronic but different strokes---.
