Default 383 setup...

How would it work out with 0 deck clearance with flat tops pistons, 5CC valve relieves WITH closed chamber heads running a .040 gasket? Would I have any problems?

Is anyone going to take a stab at this?

Great. However, I don't know what the comp. ratio would be.
Example in my 360 is the same as yours. Zero deck KB's w/ Fel-Pro .039 thick gaskets and 63cc Edel. heads. Ran great on pump gas.

bore size of 4.280, stroke 3.380, 80 cc's of head(probably 78 if use a "nailhead" valve like a manley, and a good valve job) 5 cc reliefs, 4.280 bore gasket, and you have 9.44:1 compression.

Great for a street strip combo.

Most people dont realize that unless a closed head is used, a domed piston is required on a 383 if higher compression is desired.

Same combo as what you have listed will only have 8.7 to one compression with a 88 cc "906" or the like.

Back to this car, 9.4 will give good power if matched with a decent cam.

Cam etc, will best be decided with the rest of the info, gear? headers? tire size?

Then match the carb and mintake to the cam.

Definately a good longblock combo, that will be versatile.

Flat top pistons with 5CC valve reliefs, 0 deck height, 73CC closed chamber heads, .039 compressed gasket, 10:1. Thats the goal. I was making sure it was an OK way to accomplish the 10:1 CR I want and I won't have problems with it. I think not only will I not have problems, it'll be great that way. Just checking on it. Thanks.

383 Coronet 440....Is your 73cc chamber volume from a spec book, or actually measured?
