Water Temp Holes
I am preparing to add a spal fan to the 72 Cuda (360) and also want to use the spal 185FH 3/8" fan relay harness kit. This kit has a thermostat switch with 3/8" NPT threads (and it does not seem that they offer it in 1/4"NPT.)
My intake is an Eddy airgap RPM. In the front it has a 3/8"NPT hole for the heater hose nipple, and it has 2 each 1/4"NPT holes for the temp sender and "extra". So I have been considering drilling and tapping the extra 1/4NPT hole to 3/8NPT to satisfy the fan relay harness kit. Q1) Can I do the drilling and tapping with the intake installed? Will I be able to get enough of the alum chips out with a vacuum cleaner (or an aluminum magnet)? Q2) Is there a better way to install the thermoswitch for the fan? Or a different thermoswitch with 1/4"NPT? Thanks, Tim |

I'd have a rad shop weld in a bung and place it in the rad where they put the ones on the stock cars.

I agree. You really need the fan to cycle based on the temp of the coolant in the radiator. Not the temp of the coolant in the block.
