Smile since I`m yacking tonight...holley street dominator on a airgrabber car?

Hey All, I was wondering if a holley street dominator intake would work on a `69 roadrunner with the airgraber set up? or does it sit up to high, I`m running a carter carb. any ideas? suggestions? right now i have the stock intake. thanks mike

That intake sits pretty low compared to the strip Dominator or other single plane intakes. I have one in my A that has limited clearance. Excellent intake for that matter. I bet it is within 1" of a stocker in height (4.0B-4.3RB for a Performer AL replacement)

P.S. just measured my 'B' Street Dominator, 4.0 from front valley pan corner to carb pad. Probably by design to be very close to stock height since it is a "Street" series. May be .2 taller than stock.

i am almost sure that it is shorter than my 6-barrel set-up. go to each one's web site and check the deminsions. mine fits OK.

Simple solution. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Place a straight edge across where the air cleaner sits on the carb. Measure down from the straight edge to the top of the valve cover.

Put the new intake on and put the carb back on. Once it is all bolted up, take the same measurement. Subtract the first measurement from the new measurement. Now you just need to cut down the bottom of the baseplate by that difference.

Even a half inch difference can cause damage to the fiberglass AirGrabber assembly.

As far as 6 pack intakes being taller goes, you also have to remember, they used different air cleaner assemblies. Even going from a 383 to a 440 uses a different baseplate (½" difference)

what about it won't work?

If you don't want to cut the baseplate, then you can get a fiberglass baseplate from YearOne or The Paddock and then cut it to the correct height.
