1955 Dodge Royal Lancer w/270 Hemi
I'm looking to swap out the complete rear housing and up grade it to a 4 link suspension. Anyone have an idea as to what years I can use for this or just upgrade to a 9 1/4 chrysler. Same on the front, I want to get rid of the king pins and go with a coil over. Thanks

I bumped this up to the Performance forum , I figured you may get more responses here. To get rid of the kingpins, you may want to look at swapping in the suspension out of a F body Volare-Aspen, this was a very popular swap for F-100 Ford owners and still may be.
As for the 4-link, I'm sure someone here will have some recomendations. You're looking at a lot of serious modifications so make sure whoever does it, knows what they are doing! |

When you say to swap in the suspension off a Volare-Aspen how much of the suspension do I need? What's involved with this? Thanks

Here's a link with more info on the suspension swap, the Volare is mentioned about halfway down the page. It's a pretty good overview on suspension swaps on vintage vehicles.

Volare-Aspen or any other 80's rear-drive Mopar all use the transverse torsion bar set-up, and basically the entire set-up including the K-member is attached to the underside of the frame rails by 4 bolts(in the donor car). Motor mounts for the small-block, ample header clearance, ride height adjustment, available 11.75" discs, and cheap maintenance parts. Might be the way to go providing you have access to a good fabrication guy.

1955 Dodge Royal Lancer
Hey thanks for all the info about making the upgrades to my 1955 Dodge Royal Lancer. My plan is to take on this project myself. It doesn't look all that hard to do once you see what others have done I just didn't know anyone that had done this to a 1955 Dodge? The car runs and drives as it is but you can feel the old suspension in it and it handles like a tank. I should have the new floor welded in within the next couple weeks and then I will pull the rear end out and replace it with a 9 1/4 chrysler. I saw a 1956 with a 4-link that really was a sweet set up but I don't know if I will be able to pull that one off? Any ideas as to where I might find a right front fender? Thanks.
