what 400 block best to make 452 stroker?
Hi I've found a 400 block to make a 452 stroker. I know there are thin and thick wall type 400"s.I don't like the idea of using the thin wall block. If you bore it once can you rebore it to repair it later if something goes wrong? What years were thick or thin walled? The block I found is a 1973 400 but is already bored .030 and its rusty so it would need to be bored slightly bigger yet. I can get it cheaply but is this worth buying? Thanks Tim

Thin wall blocks are basicly newwer units. I have seen rag write ups that debunk this. Less over bore the better.

any 400 block is good but should be sonic checked for wall thickness before boring. the usual overbore for a stroker is .033" which gives a 4.375" bore size. there are lots of pistons for that size available. the year of the block has NOTHING to do with how thick the cyl. walls are, as any block can have more core shift than another..............djs
