auto tranny shifter

i am in desperate need of a shifter for my 72 charger. i need a shifter that runs off a cable but the only ones i can find are $100+. i was wondering if anything came stock that i can find and use in a wrecking yard or something. i am a little short on money and need my baby back up and running. any help appreciated. thanks

Dodge vans and some trucks from the sixties and early seventies had a dash mounted lever cable shifter that will work on your car and all the hardware will be correct.

What's wrong with using the stock Slap Stick shifter? It's not a cable, but it's a direct bolt in and works great. That way you can keep it orginal. If your car is a hide a way head light car it's pretty rare too. I'm lucky to have one. Hemi orange to boot.
