Use a small block chevy rod. Turn the throws down to 2.100. Have the crank grinder "cheek" the throws to get your side clearance back. For the pin ends, just knock out the bushings and replace with the Chrysler sized bushings. Any competent machine shop with a Tobin-Arp or such machine can do this. Much easier and cheaper than looking for 6.250 Chrysler rods.

i am on the same track as yourself, eagle 6.3" h beam rods for small journal, 283-327 chev to be used in a race 318 poly. i will use a 2" big end journal for reduced crank reciprocating mass and less friction due to smaller bearing surface area. as already mentioned, 2.1" large journal is even more common, even 1.888 honda sized journals are availiable! check out eagles website, there are HEAPS of choices when it comes to chev stuff, and the price is right. by the way compare the product specs at eagle, note their prices, then take the part numbers you are interested in to campbell enterprises and compare the pricing. the bearing width difference is marginal, and if custom pistons are anticipated anyway, get them done with the chev size small end pins for less weight again. hope this helps, ben simpson
