1958 350 BB head interchange 516 casting?
I was 1 year old when the 350 engines were introduced so my memory of them a bit vague, ...LOL!, just wondering if the 516 casting head can interchange with the 350 block or is there some differences that make it not possible

Never tried it but..........
The book says it will bolt up. The later heads had larger valves though I think so you will have to look into that possible problem.
Any one know about valve clearance? |

yeah they are only a 4.0625 bore or something like that, I have no idea what size the original valves are in the 350 head?

My book says.......
All b/b heads up to: 61 used 1.95 intake and 1.60 ex. valves. That is less than the bore but we don't know how much total width is needed. The book does say that to use the 2.14"intake and 1.81" ex. valves that you need the 440 bore size of 4.32" so you don't have to notch the block.

I have a bare 383 block here, suppose I could put a 516 head on & check clearance then subtract the bore difference with 350 bore size
