crank trigger on magnum
Im going to run a stock efi system (ecu) i know the magnum uses the flywheel for ignition, is there a way to wire in a crank trigger instead? maybe a way to use the electronic distributor and MSD?
im going to efi for the tuning as im planing for a turbo, and im also going to add later on a-518 for overdrive. any help would be great. thanks steve |

the best way to do this would be to make a trip out to the boneyard and grab everything from a donor vehicle. it makes it a lot easier. especially since you will eventually go to an electronically controlled OD tranny.
having said that, i have experimented with the MSD trigger on older LA blocks with EFI. but it was aftermarket EFI, not factory stuff. it worked ok. sb |

The Magnum crank trigger system has a unique system of notches cut into the flywheel.
But it certainly looks like if you made a smaller diameter metal plate with the same arrangement of notches you could mount it at the front of the engine similar to the MSD crank trigger - and even make it adjustable for base timing. By 'tweaking' the location of each notch you could even make it individual cylinder timing. Some one reading this with machine shop equipment could make a legitimate small business producing kits like that....hint...hint |
