Default Milling W2 heads

How much can be milled off W2 heads to decrease the size of the combustion chamber? Can they be safely milled enough to make the combustion chamber closed?

I am talking about the 70cc chamber version. It appears to me that about .080-.100 would need to be removed.

Thanks!

You can mill the heads down that far; but------you get into the valve seats. The proper way if you want to go that far is to install new seats(deeper). That can get expensive.

I prefer to bring the pistons out of the block and very carefully contour the piston top to fit the contour of the combustion chamber.

If you take that much off the deck and mill the intake side to match you are going to have a valve cover sealing problem, but you can cut the intake manifold but the that intake is only matched to those heads

I am probably not typical; but, I have always machined the intake rather than the cylinder heads. Sometimes it is more work but I have never had a standard W2 intake fit the intake ports in the heads properly anyway. The intakes usually require welding/grinding to match within .030".

At this point it looks like I will sell the W2 heads with the Victor intake and buy a set of Magnum R/T heads. I have several intakes to try with those heads and think the closed chamber will fit in better with my plans.

Thanks for the help.
