Default B&M Flex plate

About a year ago I cracked my stock chrysler flex plate. I then fitted a b&m flexplate and had no problems until last week. I took my car up to country road for a high speed run revving the engine to 7000 rpm when I heard a ratling noise
coming from the transmission. I drove the car home and jacked up the front.Had a look at the flexplate and found a bolt missing. On closer inspection the hole where the bolt was in was slightly elongated and what appeared to be a small crack startiing from the hole. The flexplate showed slight bending near the area. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with b&m flexplates. I am running an aussie charger with a worked 360, dynoed to 500 horsepower,a 3500 rpm stall converter behind a 727 auto. The car has has run a best of 11.2 at 121mph down the 1/4 mile. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

The B&M Fleaplate is not a troublesome part. I would guess your bolts came loose. You need to replace your flexplate (due to the cracking) Check the threads in the convertor, if damaged you will probably need to have it repaired. When you replace the flexplate put locktite (thread locking compound) on the bolt threads and torque them down to spec. Do this to the crankshaft flange bolts as well as the convertor bolts.

Thanks for the info nhdriver. The bolts were originally locktited in but It looks Like another transmission removal

Had the same thing happen. The bolt winds itself out and starts hitting the back of the block (hence the noise) then eventually it jams hard enough to get torn out of the converter. It'll elongate the hole and bend or crack the flexplate as it comes out. Good luck - hopefully you can save the thread in the converter.

My thoughts exactly.

Are you sure you weren't in my garage, because what you described is spot on. The thread looks okay but I am thinking of putting helicoil inserts for all the holes.
