Default removing carb spacer

my old 600 cfm holley was on the torker intake with a 1" spacer. I just bought a 750 cfm holley and the air horn is taller, and it alone touches the hood insulation, and the top of the air cleaner touches the bowl vent, and also keeps the choke from opening all the way. I already know the easiest solution is to remove the carb spacer and install a air horn spacer, which i'll make at work. What effect will removing the carb spacer have?

You must try to find out. It depends. May be better, may be worse. Different results may be found with different style spacers. If you have such a small distance between your hood and carb, it may be htat your carb isnät working properly. How about your air filter, how high is that? And what kind of an engine

i haven't even gotten gas in the new carb yet....these are problems i've encountered during install....i don't figure removing the spacer will make any noticeable difference....it may on a dyno, but this is a road and dragstrip car, not a dyno car.

oh, and it's on a 400 with a torker intake, .509 purple shaft, blahdablah

Rod;

Spacers are fickle things. Even though there suposed to add HP, it may not be in the engines best intrest to have one.
Typicaly, a 1 inch open spacer will add a few RPM ceiling on the HP limits.
A 4 hole spacer add torque to the lower RPm scale while most of the time, keeping it on up past peak torque.
The difference wit/with out it is an amount you won't feel.
Do what you know is right to get'er up and running.
