Does any one know where I can get a dipstick for a 1973 400 dodge charger? I rebuilt the engine and replaced the old dipstick with an after market one. But the thing is, the after market one does not fit properly, and oil leaks out, big time. Can anyone please help me out?

Where does it leak oil? Does it leak at the block - if so silicon the tube. If it leaks at top and blows your dipstick out (like mine did when I installed the high volume oil pump) just use an old spark plug boot-the rubber piece that connects to the plug. Just stick it half way down on the tube and then install the dipstick, its cheap and easy to color cordinate.

Mopar Performance has them. Part No. P4349629 for a big block. These are chrome plated replicas of the originals.
Mopar400hp360: You running any breathers on your valve covers? A high volume oil pump shouldn't make your dipstick leak. The pump only pressurizes the oil passages, not the whole inside of the motor. Bad rings will though (combustion blowby). Or insufficient venting of the crankcase. ??? |
