Max lift for stock head
What is the max lift at valve for a stock non milled B 346 head with a flat top piston, zero deck height. Can I go .585 and still retain .120 safety factor? Spring seat not considered. Im looking for valve to piston dimension. Suppose I could run the piston up to almost end of exhaust stroke and drop the valve in, but I kinda want some baseline measurements. I could be way off.

hello, the lift usually isn't where the problem is. It's the duration and overlap of the cam lobe. at the overlap posistion, piston at top of stroke, both valves open, is when you'll find clearance. run piston to 20 degrees BTC, check clearance there with the exhaust valve, test every 5 degrees up to TDC. then test intakes at TDC and every 5 degrees ATDC, to bout 20 degrees after. this area is where piston to valve clearances are closest. just food for thought.
