Default spyro plug wires

Hey everybody whats the deal with spyro core plug wires? The guy at Summit recomended them for my set up. He said they were better than accell wires (cut to fit type). Currently my Jacobs ignition smoked my aluminum type cap and rotor and caused a mid range power bog. Summit guy said a MP brass cap/rotor and some spyro core would fix the problem. He was either real knowledgable or one heck of salesman!! What makes the spyro core special.

The spiral core wires are lower resistance so they deliver more spark to your plugs like solid core wires. But unlike solid core wires the spiral core is supposed to act like an inductor to reduce motor noise common to solid core wires. They do a fair job but not near as good as good old resistor wire. If you have a custom stereo you may not like spiral core wires. The brass cap and rotor will help you. The wires won't. If anything since they deliver more spark they could be harder on the cap and rotor.

Check your rotor phasing. If your rotor is out of phase that can cause excessive burning of the cap and rotor. On Chrysler electronic distributors the reluctor can be installed 2 different ways. One way is for a big block and the other is for a small block. This can affect rotor phasing. If you have a stock electronic distributor make sure your reluctor is installed right.

Nothing unique about spiral core wires, everyone sells them including Accel, MSD, Taylor, Blue Max, etc. Even get them at Autozone, the Bosch Premiums have a sprial core.

What is different between them and your standard accell wires? Just wondering, mine were due for replacement anyhow.
