The top row is a partial VIN, the second character should be a letter to identify the assembly plant so the "3" is probably actually a "B" for the Hamtramck plant

2859 is the build date May 26, 1969, 0123 is the sequence number (the 123rd built that day).

Hamtramck is where the car was made, not the trans. Oh, and the date code is the 10,000-day date code that Chrysler used on most all thier engines/transmissions. If you know that number and the date it represents, you can make an automatic calculator in MS Excel (or some other spreadsheet) to tell you the date of any particular number in that range. It's pretty simple. Or, you can go to www.lightningjar.com and use their calculator...

The PP before the 833 identifies the New Process transmission plant.

John,
Are both "P's" indicative of the New Process plant (in New York?), or does one of the P's indicate the trans is a Pass-car application? How many plants did they have?

The first P means Plant, the second P identifies New Process.

Most automatics use the same layout but a different plant, PK stands for Plant Kokomo (Indiana)
