Question Lokar Kickdown

I just ordered a kit from Summit.
Are there any tricks or Mods I need to think about?
It is going on a 73 Dart/360-904 with an Eddie Carb on top.

For the cable setup to work correctly the total travel of the cable attach point on the carb should closely match the total travel of the attach point on the transmission lever.

I would recommend adding a light return spring to pull the transmission lever forward.

usdart, see my post on this July 15 (360/904/Lokar.....) I'm using a stock TQ/iron manifold. I found that to make everything neat and tidy I needed the Lokar throttle assy. and cable mounting brackets, which turned out very nice. I did have to make a throttle lever adapter to convert the stock "push" motion of the factory linkage to the "pull" motion required of the cable linkage, and Lokar's throttle/k.d mounting bracket makes cable alignment easier. Bouchillon also makes appropriate brackets. John K.'s comments are bang-on as well. I did have to fine-tune the trans. lever travel, but this is fairly easy to do at the carb end as long as you leave yourself enough excess cable.

I don't know that you'll HAVE to order more parts for your set-up. If the Ed carb has the GM-type throttle lever it's already set up for a pull-type k.d (I think??) I had to adapt the TQ and using the Lokar throttle assy. just seemed to be the best compromise as it allowed me to get rid of the entire stock throttle/k.d bracket assy. Lets me make future manifold changes without bracket problems as well, since both throttle and k.d. cables are hung from a carb stud and will always be correctly aligned regardless of manifold height.

Take a look at the illustration of Lokar's SRK-4000 bracket kit and you'll see how it'll mount the k.d cable (lower cable) You might be able to still use your stock throttle cable if it can be passed through or around the mounting hole for the Lokar cable (top) without interference. Or use Bouchillon's adjustable mounting bracket. (Less $$)
