74 Challenger 318 and a 518 transmission
Can anyone give me advise on installing a 518 OD transmission in a Challenger? Will the OD portion fit in the tunnel w/o significantly cutting up the tunnel? I know I will need a new crossmember, driveshaft and a method to lockup the converter (unless I go with a non-lockup). Anything else I should watch for?
Thanks in advance. |

Installation of the 518 in an E body will require floor tunnel work, particularly in the area of the torsion bar crossmember.
Even with a non-lockup converter the OD portion of the trans will need electrical input. The Gear Vendors OD takes little or no tunnel work and includes the electrics. |

Thanks, I was hoping to avoid the $2600 for the gear vendors unit. However, I do not want to modify the tunnel.
