Question

I thought they discontinued the Duster in 1973 and showcased the Dodge Dart Sport with a factory 360 as well as the ram air hood. I have a 74 Dart Sport with the factory 360 and ram air, it looks identical to the Duster made in 73. I have all the information on this car including the bill of purchase for $4800 as well as the transport document for the train ride from California. My car has two square tail lights - other than that there is no significant difference in the body style. It also has the stripe package. Someone tell me the truth here please. Thankyou for anyones time and commets.

Dusters were available through 76. The motor in my 67 Barracuda is from a 74 Duster 360. The Dart Sport has a slightly different grill than a Duster. Interesting aside: a 74 Dart Sport uses the same hood as a 69 Barracuda.

I need to clarify here; the 69 Barracuda didn't use the double ram scoop that was optional on the Dart Sport. The hood itself was the same, however.
The 69 "Cuda" model had two small dummy scoops, while the 69 Formula S and the standard Barracuda had no scoops.

Thank you everyone for your replys, I mean that. MRPDUST340, you have the stripes down to perfect fit, they do go down the front fender and over the top as well as from the the front of the hood around the hood scoop. By the way Southlake is located next to Grapevine for the inquire from Houston.

I too am a proud owner of a Dart Sport, mine being an original Dart Sport 340 car. Mine was drag raced since new (including cutting a big hole in the hood for a scoop on a brand new car) and ever since.

Its funny to here people (primarily the uneducated) call our cars Dusters. This is the main reason why my Iowa license plates say "Dartman" as if to say "hey its a DART, MAN!". The other problem I have is when order parts (order quarters the other day) and say I have a 1973 Dart SPort, and lo and behold here comes parts for a "standard" Dart. Its become a habit to say I have a 73 Demon to keep people on their toes (No thanks to the bible belt since this car was almost was a Demon).

You'll find that wherever you go that this car is not the most common A body you'll find. Even if they don't have the most stylish parts (cow catcher bumpers, mach truck grills, plain taillights) you really grow attached to them.

And getting to the REAL reason I posted: The Dusters came with a "longitudinal" stripe kit and taillight package in 73 (and other years?) which is very similiar to the longitudinal Dart Sport stripes (not the over the roof ones, though) available in 73 an 74. This Duster stripe is similiar in appearance but is actaully slightly smaller and different on the edges. Upon casual inspection it does look the same - I think the taillight stripes are even more similiar.

Seen my Dart Sport yet? It's read, white, blue and ugly but pretty fast. It's at:

The Plymouth Duster was made from '70 - '76. The Demon was the Dodge version of the Duster and was made in '71 and '72. In '73 Dodge changed the name to Dart Sport because of complaints from religious groups. The Dart Sport was made from '73 to '76. There are differences in interiors, tail lights, stripes, grilles, bumpers, fenders, and hoods between the Dodges and Plymouths.
