Driveshaft length?
I got a 63 Dodge B Body with an 8 3/4 rear and a 69 727. I was wondering if anyone knows the length of the driveshaft I'm going to need. The cars not together yet so I can't measure it, but I wanted to get a driveshaft made while waiting for other things to get done. I'm sure other people have this set up and could help me out with a length. I'm using the larger ujoints if that matters. Thanks for any help.

The length of the driveshaft with the newer slip yoke transmission will be the same as the original driveshaft with the Ball & Trunnion u-joint but the method of measuring will be a little different. The slip yoke driveline is measured center-to-center of the u-joint holes but the B&T is measured from the center of the front pin to the center of the rear hole.
A '63 B body automatic is 53 3/4" and that's the length I have in my '62 B body Dodge with slip yoke and 7290 u-joints. |
