Default Painful Question

Are there any kits available to swap a 454 chevy into a 68 charger?

Why in all the world that is holy would you want to? You would destroy a classic Mopar and probably incite the rath of 95% of this board. save youself now and repent!

Maybe we should try to have him banned for such an offensive question.

I know that I about lost my lunch when I read that one. It makes my post, in the joke forum, appear rather mild.

I'll tell ya what... Go stuff the 454 into a Vega and give me the Charger. She would look good next to my '68 Charger and my '69 Coronet 500 Convertible.

I don't know of a kit like that. There is a large booth at the car shows I go to with conversion kits that is popular. I'm preddy sure that they advertise in the Mopar Mags, specifically Mopar Muscle.

But like everyone else has indirectly said, the demand is not there.

Yeah,, and the Charger is worth more than 7 vegas and 3 shevelles. Why ruin it? Its not 1984 anymore as in those days it was hard to make a big block mopar wedge really run with the splayed valve bowties. But nowadays, it's like, "smell ya later" to the chevy guys. You really should wake up and see some of the options Brodix Cylinder Head offers for the big block dodge. 454's are so yesterday.

I think I saw the conversion the other way around on this website:

www.wedgeinachevy.com

Or, then again that may be a bogus link and I may just be one of the 95% mentioned above that thinks this is an extremely bad idea (to put it "user friendly"). The only way I have EVER remotely approved of cross breeds like this was when the car was a body in white/green or all fiberglass, or a dragster.

The last one of these crossbreeds I saw was a Daytona with a Chubby motor in it, and when I told him I was disappointed that it did not have Mopar power, he went off on me and we almost got in a fistfight. I guess when your 6' 2" and pushing 290 it's a little easier to let your opinions fly...

Dartman

PS - Then again, could this possibly be a troll? Pretty odd question...

GADS! This is at least 2 people I've heard of that want to put a junk motor into a Mopar!

What's this world coming to?

I think we need to hold a candlelight vigil, join hands in a circle and sing "We Shall Overcome", and develop a 12-step program to help these poor souls

Default Crazy and insane

i All;

Remember that 2% of the population is certifiably insane, and that you can bring horse to water but getting said horse to drink is another mule( if you get my meaning ).

A chebie aquaintance of mine hates rat motors he's built 2 of them and both died an early death and were slower than his 408's...

Youare kidding right? It's almost christmas, but nowhere near april fools.

The install is simple.

Put the charger in the paper and exhange it for cash. You'll end up with enough money to build lots of BBC motors. Put them into something like a cutlass. That's cool.

Into a mopar? That's just wrong.

It makes no sense. Devalues the car AND makes it slower.

These cars are just too nice for this sort of thing.

GUYS THIS IS NOT ,I REPEAT NOT MY CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would never dream of doing such a thing. Here is the rest of the story.A customer brought a 360 to our machine shop yesterday and the boss had a 600 hp 454 on the run in stand.Customer asked to hear it run and the bo$$ said SURE.Well this guy got wood and the next thing I know he buys the friggin anchor. Then my phone rings and low and behold the interface questions start to fly.He also wants to run a power glide trans in it!Personally I hope there is no way to do it.I haven't seen an abundance of 68 Chargers just lying around for the picking, let alone one to be butchered in this way.

600 hp out of a big block ain't that tough these days. Might be a little exspensive but not tough. Hell my 400 Mopar gets nearly 500 and I don't have that much money into it. You might want to contact the guy and run down a few drawbacks.
1. The cost of converting a Mopar to accept a BB GM motor is not that easy or cheap, if done right. Master brake cyl, K frame, trans mount...
2. The destruction of one of the more sought after classic Mopars of all time
3. The sight of a 454 in a Mopar isn't going to wow or impress anyone whith any kind of real knowledge.
4 The maintainence if anything goes wrong, or parts that might need replacing.
5. No resale value at all. The GM guys won't want it and the Mopar guys will stay away like the plague.
6. Sucking up a built GM motor for a non GM unit when someone could use it in their GM product.
7. And last of all the constant never ending people like us who will ridicule him to the day he leaves this mortal coil!

Just convince the boss to build him a 440, instead of selling him the 454. 600 HP out of a 440 isn't that tough.

I feel like Im going to puke, tell the guy that I will buy his charger just to get it away from him and his twisted mind. Id rather see him turn it into a General Lee clone than put a 454 boat anchor in it.
