Default should sell or no?

a co-worker has a pt, a 2000, i believe. she just had the water pump changed and the timing belt. at that time a JB Weld oil pan repair was discovered. her spot at work shows a spot that has been leaking for some time. she is going car shopping now, after having it for about 6 months or so.
Question: is this ill-advised? it seems to me that at 80,000 miles, this was going to need to be done soon anyway, this got the belt out of the way. personally, i'd have expected it. she thinks it's the beginning of the end. is my thinking wrong, or are there other common failures of which i am unaware? btw-my mother has one and is completely pleased with it.

Wink

I have a Neon (same drive train) w/95K on it, it runs strong I have seen neons go 150K w/ only a head gasket change (a common problem on early Neons ) The head gasket problems have been resloved on all of the newer neons (& P/T's) If you can get it for a good price grab it! My wife has a 2003 P/T & we love it!

I'd just replace the pan, luckily the oil pan is a flat flange with a formed gasket, you can remove it just like a valve cover without having to mess with the harmonic dampener or any of the crank seals.
I replaced the one on my Breeze and it was a piece of cake!!
