727 Direct Drive Drum replacement?
Would I need to use a Billett drum (for example) in my application or will a TCI Street Fighter or Rossler be ok with out changing the drum? 66 Coronet, 3500 lbs with me, about 400-425 hp, 3000 stall conv, 4:10 gears, (haven't picked cam yet).
Thanx. |

You don't need a billet drum for what your running. The TCI streetfighter is a great tranny to use on your combo. WE use only TCI trannies on all our auto cars and we try to keep one on hand in the plastic at all times so it's here when we need one for a new project. THEy make great pieces so go grab one and get it installed today.

Whether or not you need a billet drum isn't necessarily dependent on horsepower, the component failure that leads to drum explosions is just as likely on a low power installation if the wrong valve body and/or driver technique are used.
It does not matter who builds the transmission, they can all explode. A billet drum is cheap insurance in the long run. |
