MSD , Mallory & Crane make rev-limiter`s. Which one will work best with M/P dist& chrom ECU. I know its a cheep insurance policy and want what works the best. I don`t need all the whistle`s and bell`s ,just a rev-limiter. Thanks 1st weg

Ok, as everyone knows, I like to plug MSD's stuff. I like their Soft Touch Rev Control. It's a lot smoother than some of the "studder boxes" out there.

I use the MSD too. I kind of like the plug in modules, they are very clear to use. I have also used Accel and Crane boxes with limiters and do not like them. The Crane box has a limiter that is adjusted with a small screw driver. Well there isn't always a proper tool available and after you have used some substitutes for the adjustment, no one is going to find out where the arrows point. The Accel uses coded switches and different combos mean different rpm. Without the manual you have no idea about the different settings. But with the MSD, you just install the plug where the rpm reads and that's it, can do ti with gloves on etc. The only 'problem' is that you have to have those plugs.

I use the crane hi-6 and I love it, have never had any problems with it whatsoever. As for adjustments, nothing could be simpler, turn the screw you're done. Just have the tool in your glovebox or ashtray, no hassles or taking covers off, SIMPLE.

Ran a Mallory limiter and wouldn't recommend it to even a chevy owner! My MSD 6-al has limiter in it and works great. You would get the same results with there soft touch limiter if you already have an existing ignition system. (94.00 in Jegs)

we like the msd stuff also and the one thing that hasn't been menitioned is they also have a plug in box that will allow you to adjust the rev limiter by turnin a knob.
these boxes will have a range of rpm's (3000-5200) built into one box. diff rpm ranges are avil and the last time we bought one it was 50$ or so.these boxes will plug into any msd unit that has a limiter built into it.

I have the Crane Hi-6 with fireball coil. Yeah, you do need to keep up with that tool and if you race at night make sure you have a flashlight so you can see the indicator. But overall I like it. However, if you plan to use a factory tach, you'll need to buy the adapter. The tach won't work by just simply "hooking" it up.

Depending on your application, you need to make your decision on how much "juice" you really need.

Thumbs up

Well guys after reading all the info I have gotten the perfect christmas present. Hubby got me the MSD6AL part #6420 for my 69 Dart 340. I cant wait to get it in the car.
Just opened the box again and it looks simple enough with the chips to put in no screwdriver needed. Has soft touch Rev Control. Thanks for the info!!
