Question adding a 6 pack - Questions ?????

see this on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

looks complete

says its complete

Do you see anything missing ?

Any reason to think it would not work on my car ?

(Mine does not have the air grabber hood - is that air cleaner fine for a non air grabber car ?)

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Can you get 6 packs with Electronic chokes ?

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I'd rather not spend a pile of cash, only to find out it doesn't work for my application ....

here's the next part of the question

Did original 440 6 packs have different crank and rods than non 6-pack engines ??

Any reason that my engine will not be able to handle the extra load ?

Seems like a ton of cash..................

If you do convert to an electric choke make sure you get the choke control unit OEM # 3656730(part # from memory) This piece is a small round item with 2 terminals on the one side that mounts via a single bolt.

"Good luck on you project"

For the same money, you can get the EB TPI injection setup. It is far better than the 6 pack.

Default SixPac set up

Hi Ram Man;

The SixPac set up is fine on a fairly stock engine. If you have headers, close to stock type cam it works well. Try to run a street /strip type set up and you really need to work on the tune up for the carbs to get the performance you would want and need. A good single plane and a 4 bbl carb will out perform the SixPac set up. I agree with dst that a new set up is cheaper, ehostler is right on about Edelbrock TPI set up...

LA360, The only reason I think a 4 barrel would work that much better on a modded engine is that you can buy new 4 barrels that are set up for hotter combos out of the box. As far as I know, there is no place that you can order sixpack carbs from, that can ballpark the tuning to your combo.

My sixpack is on a 340 with W2 heads, a roller cam with 262@.050 duration, 13:1 compression, and headers with 2" primaries. Not exactly a fairly stock engine, but my carbs work great! I tuned them as well as I could, then took the car to a man that does race carb tuning, and the difference was astounding!

If someone is worried about tuning multiple carbs, just find someone that knows more than you do, and recruit them. I hate letting anyone else touch my car, but there are some things that I don't have the tools, knowledge or patience for. I was on the fence with my sixpack, but after I had a pro lay his hands on it, I became a firm believer!

It doesn't help that you are up there with no air.

Your point? Or, are you being the Evinrude in the septic tank again?

Hi all;

the point I was making, that these carbs need a good tuner to get them right. Any carburetor can be tuned, two or three carbs are just harder to get balanced, so that each carb is working equally. These carbs use the jet plates rather than jets so that requires a good investment in parts to tune the carbs. Most shops do not have the inventory to do this.

Blocks will fit, but you have to use side-hung float bowls.
